BrightEdge alternatives
An honest look at BrightEdge — what it costs, what the entry plan actually includes, and where it's genuinely good. Then what we do differently. Every figure below was read from BrightEdge's own website on 26 September 2026.
What is BrightEdge?
BrightEdge is an enterprise SEO platform founded in 2007 by Jim Yu and Lemuel Park and based in San Mateo, California. Its about page says it has 2,400 customers, including 57 of the Fortune 100.
AI Catalyst, launched in April 2025 and included for all customers, is its AI search layer. BrightEdge says it tracks how often a brand is mentioned and cited across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Gemini "and other AI platforms", benchmarks that against competitors, rates sentiment as positive, neutral or negative, and turns citation gaps into content briefs.
The rest of the platform covers keyword research, rank tracking, content and reporting, plus Site Agents that push internal-link, schema and on-page changes.
Where is BrightEdge genuinely strong?
- ✓An established enterprise SEO platform: founded in 2007, with 2,400 customers including 57 of the Fortune 100, by its own count.
- ✓AI Catalyst separates mention presence from citation presence per engine, and rates sentiment with the reasoning behind each rating.
- ✓Prompts are mapped to buyer-journey stages, and citation gaps turn into content briefs.
- ✓Sits on top of BrightEdge's keyword data, rank tracking and Site Agents for technical fixes.
Where does BrightEdge fall short?
- ✕No public pricing, trial or self-serve plan, so you cannot evaluate it without a sales call.
- ✕Prompt limits and refresh frequency are not published.
- ✕Its AI Catalyst page names five engines plus "other AI platforms" without listing them.
Where CoreCited is different
What do people ask about BrightEdge?
How much does BrightEdge cost?
BrightEdge does not publish a price. BrightEdge pricing is not published. It sells through demos, and its AI tracking (AI Catalyst) was launched in April 2025 as part of the platform for all BrightEdge customers rather than as a separate product. Anything you read elsewhere claiming a specific figure was not taken from their own page, because there is not one to take.
Does BrightEdge have a free plan?
No free plan, trial or self-serve signup is offered on its site; every call to action is 'Request a demo'. It is worth reading that carefully: in this category "free" most often means a time-limited trial with a card up front, which is a different thing from a plan that stays free.
Which AI engines does BrightEdge track?
ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode — 5 surfaces as listed on their own site. Counts in this category are not always comparable: some tools count a model and the product built on it as two engines, so compare the named surfaces rather than the number.
Is there a cheaper alternative to BrightEdge?
BrightEdge does not publish a price, so a direct comparison is not possible. Rankscale is the cheapest published entry point in this table at $20 a month, and CoreCited starts at $69.
What does BrightEdge not do?
No public pricing, trial or self-serve plan, so you cannot evaluate it without a sales call. Prompt limits and refresh frequency are not published. Its AI Catalyst page names five engines plus "other AI platforms" without listing them. One thing it shares with every tool here, including ours: none of them can tell you how much traffic Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode sent you. Search Console counts those clicks as ordinary organic search and no API separates them. Referrals from ChatGPT and other assistants are different: they show up in analytics as their own sources.
